The YMYL pages weren't thin — they were stranded: zero inbound links, unnamed reviewers, and a TypeScript config enforcing nothing
Phase Q's three-lens assessment didn't flag content depth on UK Calculators' four money pages. It flagged link equity: forty-eight articles, zero internal links to the calculator set. Then reviewer attribution. Then a TypeScript config with strict: true declared and ignoreBuildErrors: true also set — which meant strict mode had never been a gate.
`strict: true` was in tsconfig.json. `ignoreBuildErrors: true` was in next.config.mjs. Twelve YMYL product bugs were in between.
The UK calculators site had TypeScript strict mode configured and then silenced at build time. Removing the override surfaced twelve masked product errors in one afternoon. On a YMYL financial calculator site, that's not a developer experience win. It's a trust gate becoming real.
`ignoreBuildErrors: true` kept the type checker quiet. Turning it off found twelve product bugs.
UK Calculators had `strict: true` in tsconfig and `ignoreBuildErrors: true` in next.config.mjs. The two settings coexisted for months. One afternoon removing the flag surfaced twelve masked type errors on a YMYL money site where wrong numbers carry real consequences.
Six YMYL pages were unknown to Google. The technical audit came back clean.
An ultracode review of five legal pages and the stamp duty calculator found no technical blockers — HTTP 200, correct directives, canonical self. The pages weren't stuck because of markup. They were stuck because Googlebot had no editorial reason to visit.
